If you are planning to resurface or remodel the bar top of your commercial or residence bar, you should consider adding a theme, instead of the usual dull wood or expensive marble. You can add pizzazz to your bar top at little cost using something you probably have hidden deep in your closets-board games. By replacing your bar top with carefully cut and arranged game boards, you can give you bar a whimsical theme and make use of those old, discarded playthings.
Instructions: Step1. Strip the bar top down to the bare plywood surface using the crowbar or by removing the screws if it is attached by screws. Step2. Lay the game boards, playing-side up, over the bare bar top. Place them in whatever arrangement you prefer, as long as they cover the entire surface. Step3. Cut the boards as needed to fit your unique bar shape. If the boards are too small to cover the bar entirely, then cut one board to cover bare spots. If your bar has contours or rounded ends, you will need to mark boards to fit those pieces onto the bar. Step4. Mark each board and board piece with a number, written small enough to be barely noticeable on the front of each board. Place the same number, written large, on the surface of the bar top where the board will go. Repeat this until all areas have been marked. Step5. Set up the speed rack (the speed rack is the rack behind the bar that the liquor bottles are kept in). Generally, you'll keep your house (cheapest) bottles of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and Triple-sec on the rack by your soda gun. This is done as you usually use these bottles the most, and they're the five liquors that go in a Long Island Iced Tea. For the rest of the speed rack, keep the types of liquors (whiskeys, gins, rums, vodkas, etc.) grouped together. Step6. Place all of the pieces back in their respective positions on the bar top and press down to secure them. Make sure they are in the same arrangement as before, covering all bare spots. Allow these pieces to set firmly. Step7. Inlay a pre-cut hard plastic sheet, such as Plexiglas, onto the bar top and seal it using the epoxy sealant. Allow this to fully cure.
